Mixed emotions

Can we say, "happy because most of the stuff is moved in"
Brandt made several trips to the car helping MeMe
move her things into this spacious beautiful updated
dorm room. Oh yes, I forgot it looks about the
same as when I lived there just a while back. Ok, it was
a little longer than just a while back but who is counting
years???
MeMe's comment about her room was just
a little negative especially when she is
generally very upbeat. "This is just an upgrade
from a jail cell."
I know I spend 18 years (several times over)
 trying to raise and teach
my kids to be responsible upstanding good people.
I hope they will always be contributing citizens to
society.
I traveled down the road of parenthood
and wondered
when the kids were young if I would survive.
 Then bam!!!!!
I wake up one morning and
low and behold they are grown.
There is one side of the brain and heart that says
yes, yes, yes - we made it.
But then there are a few of us in the
world that have a bladder that is attached
to our eyeballs and when I think
about the kids all being away I have a
quiet teary melt down.
How can that be? You spent all this time
preparing the kids to further their
education and live on their own.
You should be thrilled, right?
Funny how your emotions play tricks on your mind.
How can you be so happy and sad at the same time?
MeMe and Joel, Dad and I are so thrilled you are both
going to college and working on
making a better life for yourselves!
We are proud of you!!

Oh Ardy ---it's not really SAD. What you are feeling is a joyful emotion that you have raised these children and opened up these opportunities for them. What you are feeling is JOY ---that they have been obedient, loving, and now charting their own course in life. It brings tears of course ---tears of -----"good job Ardy, you did it"
love you
